Day 30: Waffles, sweet balsamic vinegar covered strawberries with cream and ice-cream


How did I get to be my age and never made waffles? Well I didn’t have a waffle iron to start with but I bought one finally.  No better day to make it than for his birthday breakfast.


For the waffles

  • 150g butter
  • 4 dl flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 dl milk

To serve:

  • Strawberries
  • Cooked aged balsamic vinegar
  • Thick cream for whisking
  • Vanilla Ice cream

Remove the stems from the rinsed strawberries. Pour over vinegar.  If yours isn’t cooked you might want to do that first.  Whisk up the cream and put in the fridge.

Melt the butter and leave to cool.

Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.  Whisk in the milk then the butter.

Keep both but separate the egg whites from the yolks.  Mix in the yolks and whisk up the egg whites until thick then fold into the mix.

Cook up on the waffle iron and serve up with the strawberries, cream and ice cream and eat whilst crispy.
